The music in Sim City 3000 can be categorized into four styles: "Gershwin-Esq" evoking the feeling of a large American city. This style is used in the pre-game intro and during game-play and utilizes the SimCity Theme. "Straight-Ahead Jazz" which is used during game-play to evoke a downtown city feel. "Patternistic Minimalism" which is used in-game to enhance the tinkering feel of creating a city. "Electronica" which is also used in-game to evoke a mysterious urban empire feeling.
